The Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) has begun the process of updating its students’ digital services platform. This means the Self online service will be replaced by a new platform over the next few years. Tenders to supply the new service platform were invited on 10 March 2025. The first parts of the FSHS’s new digital service platform will be available for students in 2026.
The new service platform will be designed to provide students with a wider range of FSHS digital services than at present. The goal is to offer students the opportunity to handle as many of their healthcare-related matters as possible by themselves using the digital service platform.
“The FSHS took its first digital leap back in 2016, when the current Self online service was introduced. It’s now time for us to update our service platform to keep up with developments and to continue providing students with comprehensive and easy-to-use digital services”, says Teija Kulmala, the FSHS’s Medical Director.
The new platform will improve students’ access to services and offer better tools for healthcare professionals working at the FSHS. The FSHS has involved students in deciding what features will be needed in the new service platform. Students will also be involved later during the project.
The service provider will be chosen and the decision to acquire the new platform will be made when the tendering process is complete at the end of spring 2025.
