The amounts of the student healthcare fees for higher education students in 2025 have been confirmed by a government decree. Next year, the student-specific healthcare fee will be EUR 71.20 per academic year, or EUR 35.60 per term.
The healthcare fee will be EUR 2.40 less than in 2024. The main reason for this change is that the number of higher education students on which the fee is based will, according to an estimate by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, be higher in 2025 than in 2024.
The students should pay the fee to Kela unprompted
The students in higher education should pay the health care fee to Kela for both the spring and autumn semesters unprompted.
Please follow Kela’s website for more detailed due dates and payment instructions. All questions about the healthcare fee should be addressed directly to Kela, which is responsible for collecting the healthcare fee.
Kela charges 5 euros as a late payment fee if a student pays the healthcare fee after the due date. The late payment fee will remain unchanged.
Remember to reschedule or cancel your appointment well in advance
The charge for an unattended appointment (56.70 euros) will remain unchanged in 2025. The FSHS charges the fee if a student is absent from a booked appointment and hasn´t rescheduled or cancelled it in time. If necessary, an appointment must be rescheduled or canceled no later than 24 hours in advance.
The amount of the healthcare fee for higher education students is specified in a Government decree, which is issued annually.
