FSHS serves students on weekdays during the Christmas holidays. FSHS’s digital and remote services are available on all weekdays. Local services are also available well – mainly only 27–29 December 2023 there will be exceptions at some service units.
Assessing your need for treatment
The need for treatment can be assessed on weekdays according to the normal opening hours. You can contact the FSHS using the service forms provided in the Self online service, via SelfChat or by calling our nationwide service numbers:
- SelfChat is open on weekdays from Monday to Friday 9 am –11 am (the service line for hearing-impaired customers on SelfChat serves according to its normal opening hours)
- The nationwide telephone services are available Mon-Thurs from 8 am to 3 pm and Fri from 8 am to 2 pm.
Exceptions to opening hours
Christmas
All our service units, SelfChat and our nationwide telephone services are closed on Christmas Day, Monday 25 December 2023 and on the second day of Christmas, Tuesday 26 December 2023.
New year’s day
All our service units, SelfChat and our nationwide telephone services are closed on on New Year’s Day, Monday 1 January 2024.
The service units are open between 27–29 December 2023 as follows
FSHS’s own service units will operate normally on weekdays around the Christmas holidays, with some exceptions on 27–29 December 2023. If necessary, you will be directed from the assessment of the need for treatment to either a remote reception or a local reception to another open service unit.
FSHS Central
- The service units in Tulli and Hervanta in Tampere are open on weekdays as usual.
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health or oral health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Seinäjoki (the patient office is closed between 20 December 2023 and 3 January 2024).
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health or oral health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Hämeenlinna.
FSHS East
- The service units in Joensuu, Jyväskylä and Kuopio are open on weekdays as usual.
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Mikkeli.
FSHS North
- The service units in Oulu and Rovaniemi are open on weekdays as usual.
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Kajaani.
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Kemi.
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Kokkola.
FSHS South
- The service units in Töölö and Malmi are open on weekdays as usual.
- The service unit in Espoo operates on weekdays according to normal opening hours, but only those students who have booked a local appointment can enter the service unit between 27 December and 29 December 2023 (even the patient office is closed).
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Lahti. The oral health services at FSHS Lahti are open on weekdays as usual.
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health or oral health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Lappeenranta (even the patient office is closed).
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Kouvola,
FSHS West
- The service units in Turku, Pori and Vaasa are open on weekdays as usual.
- There are no local appointments for general and mental health between 27 December and 29 December 2023 at FSHS Rauma.

Our partners service units serve according to their own opening hours.
Patient ombudsman
On Thursday 21 December 2023 there is no telephone time for the patient ombudsman.
The right to use FSHS services during the spring semester 2024
In order to be able to use FSHS services, including Self online service and other remote services, you must be registered as an attending student. If your right to use FSHS services expires at the end of the fall semester 2023, please cancel any appointments reserved for the spring semester 2024.
