Appointments with dermatologists to end at the FSHS – skin problems will continue to be treated by FSHS doctors

The Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela), which is responsible for organising student healthcare services, has announced that services by dermatologists will no longer be considered part of student healthcare. The announcement is based on the Act on student healthcare services for higher education students, according to which student healthcare services are primary-level healthcare services. The services provided by dermatologists will therefore end at the FSHS in August 2022.

Skin problems will still be treated at the FSHS at appointments with public health nurses and student healthcare doctors. If you have acne, a rash or other skin symptoms, contact the treatment needs assessment team and the booking service as usual. If necessary, the FSHS will refer you to a specialist in the public healthcare sector.

August will be a transition period, so all appointments with dermatologists booked for August will be honoured.
